Are there any places left for those of you taking the PAU in July?
Yes, absolutely yes. In the University of Murcia and in many other public and private universities, places are still available in the extraordinary phase. Degrees such as Medicine o Nursing are more limited, but in most grades you will still have real options.
And if you are considering studying in a private universitylike ours, you should know that we have enough places available in our university degrees. So, don't give up hope and don't give up too soon. Anything is possible.
Pre-registration tips: avoid common mistakes
- Order your preferences wisely
If you really want to study International Relations, put it firsteven if other options such as Medicine are also of interest to you. If you are awarded a place at a higher grade and do not accept it, you will not keep your place on the waiting lists of the options you have placed afterwards.. - Find out more about each grade
Still not sure whether to study law, psychology, mathematics, criminology or physiotherapy? Read up on curricula, career opportunities and listen to industry professionals. Choose what fits you, not what you think is expected of you. - Assesses grades with less demand
If your grade is not very high, that's fine. There are careers with great job prospects and lower cut-off requirements such as Early Childhood Education, Civil Engineering or Tourismand they are options with a bright future! - Consider private centres
Not all universities are the same. Many private institutionslike ours, offer a closer training, personalised attention, reduced groups and multidisciplinary curricula adapted to current needs.
(Yes, we'd need another blog to tell you all about it... but if you want, we'd be happy to tell you about it! )
What if you still don't know what to study?
Don't worry, it's more common than you think. The key is to connect with your interests, skills and values.
- Are you more into science, literature or creativity?
- Can you imagine working with people, data or technology?
- Are you motivated to help others, resolve conflicts or undertake projects?
Ask yourself these questions. Do your research. Talk to counsellors. And remember: choosing a career does not define your whole life, but it can open up avenues you can't even imagine today.
